Be A Part Of Something Bigger Than Yourself

Hi friends! My name is Megan Wright, and I am an upcoming junior at GSU studying public relations!

For as long as I can remember, service and community involvement have always served such a pivotal purpose in my life. I loved my community, and I knew that I wanted to leave it better than I found it. Whether it was fundraising, serving those who are less fortunate than me, or simply spending time with those who made my community what it was – I was eager to make an impactful difference in a place that had made such an impactful difference in me.

I remember coming to Georgia Southern feeling nervous and unsure of how I could continue to serve my community. I knew I had chosen Georgia Southern for its outstanding sense of community, but I was in a new place, surrounded by new people, so the possibility of finding an outlet to get involved seemed limited.

When I discovered the Panhellinic Association at GSU, I instantly knew that I wanted to be a part of it. I knew that being a member of one of these organizations would be a momentous stepping stone to getting involved at Georgia Southern.

When I walked through the door of Alpha Delta Pi, I felt an overwhelming sense of clarity. I was surrounded by like-minded women who’s hearts for their community shined so brightly. They were kind, determined, intelligent, and so much more. I knew then and there that I wanted to call ADPi home.

When I think about my time in ADPi and the opportunity and blessings it has brought along with it, my words often feel so trite and insufficient. I struggle to put into words just how much my community and my sisters changed the trajectory of my college career and my life as a whole.

Being a part of something bigger than myself became being a part of Alpha Delta Pi.

“We are not put on this earth for ourselves, but are placed here for each other. If you are always there for others, then in time of need, someone will be there for you.” -Jeff Warner

To PNMs- I encourage you to always be intentional in finding a community and a home that suits your purpose. Serve that community, grow it and grow within it, and everything else will fall into place.

With love,

Megan Wright
